GRIZZLY IN A QUIET MOMENT BY A GLACIAL LAGOON
Over the many summers we've spent here, we've been excited, thrilled and occasionally frightened by the bear activity in this amazing area. Bears, both Grizzly and Black, chasing salmon in the river, courting in season, fighting, chasing each other, teaching their young, foraging for berries on the roadside, playing and 'play fighting' - you name it and we've probably seen it. Still, some of the most magical times have been when the bears swim leisurely in the shallow pond of clear, brilliant, blue-green glacial water adjacent to the spawning pools in the creek, or just nap or laze in the lush grasses around the pond, relaxing and seemingly unaware of the human presence nearby. I say 'seemingly' because it would be a huge mistake to believe for a moment that they are not completely aware of our presence but that is not the appearance they portray of being at ease and just enjoying the surroundings. Those are the times when we feel so VERY privileged to be in this wonderful place . . . it IS ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL!
